Dental veneers are a very thin tooth-colored shell that we can bond to the front of any of your teeth that are discolored or stained, worn down, chipped, irregularly shaped, or to fill a gap between two teeth. The process of getting veneers generally takes three visits – a consultation to diagnose the situation and develop the treatment plan and then two visits to make and bond the veneers in place. This is true whether you need one veneer or several.
A slight amount of your tooth surface is removed equal to the thickness of the veneers and an impression is made to send to the dental lab to construct the veneer. It is ordered to be a match to the color of your other teeth so the veneers will look completely natural. In some situations, we would place temporary dental veneers while we wait for the lab to complete your permanent ones. The final visit is used to bond the veneers in place and make any adjustments necessary. A fourth appointment is sometimes recommended so we can examine the placement of the veneer and see how the gums are responding to it.
